Probably not my best idea ever

May 29, 2008 at 10:24 am (Random Thoughts) ()

So I took Summer to see Sweeney Todd last night (the musical not the movie). For those of you who don’t know, it is about a barber who kills people. Considering her neighbor was found dead only a week ago, this probably wasn’t my brightest moment. However, we think it was suicide now, so hopefully she rested easy last night without any nightmares of homicidal barbers coming after her in her sleep.

10 Things I learned at the beach

May 27, 2008 at 11:45 am (Random Thoughts) (, , )

1. Being the last one there stinks and you end up on the couch.

2. MF is the best shotgun rider ever – she stayed awake the entire drive both ways and at one point we had such a good conversation going we didn’t even notice we had gone about 60 miles.

3. Scott can read minds – at least mine apparently.

4. Married girls don’t mind shacking up with a bunch of girls even though their husband might only be a few houses away – well at least one doesn’t.

5. Bending the rules is always fun, going only about 5 feet away to do it is even better.

6. People can grow on you

7. Some people ask a lot of questions – which is good because it gave us something to talk about on the way home.

8. Beach Police will give out tickets for glass bottles – luckily someone on the beach walked by and warned us.

9. Some people walking on the beach should never have been allowed to pick out their own swimwear.

10. There is no place better to be at 8 a.m. than on an empty beach with the sand between your toes.

Ten Minutes

May 23, 2008 at 1:57 pm (Random Thoughts) (, , )

Although I don’t get to leave for the beach until 5ish, I get to leave work in ten minutes. Not really enough time to do anything productive so I thought I’d spend it with you.

How do you tell someone’s boss that they suck and you want a new sales rep? Luckily I don’t have to because I hear my supervisor talking about him badly so I can only assume she is having problems with him to and called his manager. She knows I don’t like working with him either, so hopefully this will take care of it for me.

I always like the way my office looks when I am about to leave for a long weekend. It’s nice and clean, just like my house. I hate coming back to a mess even if I’m only gone for a few days. My brother is staying with me for a little bit so hopefully he is reading this now and will not destroy my house while I am gone this weekend :)

I wish my friend Blondie could come to the beach with us. It was fun with her around last year to help us make up crazy dances about paper towels.

I have 6 different colors of folders on my desk right now. It is very colorful.

My feet are cold – I should probably put my shoes back on.

Maybe I should change the quote on my dry erase board. Maybe I’ll go with this one…
“Just because your voice reaches halfway around the world doesn’t mean you are wiser than when it reached only to the end of the bar.” –Edward R. Murrow

Someone just called my cell phone and started talking about closing on a house. She talked for about 30 seconds before taking a breath so I could tell her she had the wrong number.  Either that or she is about a year late making the phone call.

I was going to do something really quick before the phone rang and now I don’t remember what.

All right – I’m out of here. Have a good weekend.

This time it’s not my fault

May 22, 2008 at 9:29 am (Happenings) (, )

I’m pretty tired again today, but I have a very valid excuse this time. I was all set to go to bed after my supper club last night when my friend called me and asked if she could come stay at my house for the night. Her reason – someone in the house next door to her was shot and killed yesterday and possibly while she was home. She was home when the body was found and heard the screaming and police, etc. Needless to say she was a little freaked out and did not want to stay home last night.  I don’t think I would want to go back either.

Step by Step, oooh Baby…

May 21, 2008 at 2:28 pm (Random Thoughts) ()

That’s the only part I remembered of the NKOTB song. I was a big enough fan in 4th grade that I recorded their concert on the Today Show Friday morning. I watched it last night and was really disappointed. It wasn’t that good. It was really funny watching them dance and try to look cool, but it wasn’t working. I was really surprised at the audience though – a lot of old people, but also some young people who wouldn’t have been listening to music in 1990. They were all singing along to every word. I could barely even remember the songs let alone sing them word for word.

I was hoping to have nice feelings of nostalgia, but really all I could think was, “wow, did I really like this when I was 10?”

Is it Karma?

May 21, 2008 at 1:25 pm (Funny Things)

I went to Target during my lunch break today and the lady in front of me at the checkout line had grass/straw all over her butt. I was about to say something when she started yelling at the cashier for no reason. I decided not to tell her.

What are you waiting for?

May 21, 2008 at 11:43 am (Random Thoughts) (, )

Man I am exhausted this morning. I decided to finally watch the ER finale last night. It ended very dramatically. Did Sam get is the ambulance or Pratt? Who’s not coming back? What just happened? etc., etc. I knew however that my friend Jennifer at work would know who is rumored to not be coming back. She is one of the few people I know that still watch this show and she always knows everything about which actors are doing what. If you think I’m bad with all my TV knowldege, multiply that by about 100 and you will get a good picture of Jennifer :)

It was already late when I finished ER and then I decided to read the first chapter of a book called Cold Tangerines.  It was all about waiting in life for the next big thing instead of paying attention to today. I could totally relate – I remember being in middle school and having this picture in my head of myself in college. I was totally going to start going by Katherine instead of Katie and be all grown up, etc.

Totally never happened – I think I am still less grown up at 27 than this picture I had of myself then. I also don’t think I’ll ever go by Katherine for real – unless I marry a man with some weird last name that rhymes with Katie because that would be horrible. But I guess I could keep my own last name in that case.

Anyways, then I went to bed, but continued to lay there forever thinking about all the times I’ve been waiting like this and thinking of the next step, so I stayed up way too late. Now it’s almost noon and I still feel like I’m asleep. This might not be a good book to read before bedtime.

What a Day

May 20, 2008 at 3:40 pm (Random Thoughts) ()

I think I’ve had more work today after taking yesterday off then I had the whole week after I got back from Spain. It’s a little ridiculous. I think some of my sales reps are ignoring me as well, which is just annoying.

My sister graduated from law school this weekend so I spent the weekend hanging out with her and some of her friends and then helping a tiny bit to get her stuff packed up before I flew home. She is headed to San Francisco tomorrow, so I will now have to account for a three hour time difference when I call to annoy her every day.
