Feeling Uninspired

July 8, 2009 at 9:48 am (Random Thoughts) ()

I don’t really have anything I want to write about right now, so I just followed Ignorant Historian’s lead and thought I’d answer some questions about myself…

1. What is your current obsession?

Getting over the last obsession – does that count?

2. What are you wearing today?

Jeans, a black top and black heels. I have lunch with a rep today so I had to glam it up with the heels instead of flip flops…

3. What’s for dinner?

Probably something quick and easy – maybe couscous with some vegetables thrown on top.

4. What’s the last thing you bought?

A soda from downstairs.

5. What are you listening to right now?

The new The Dead Weather CD on iLike

6. What is your favorite quote?

I don’t know if I can narrow it down, but I would probably end up with something by Mark Twain if going for famous quotes. However, if you count the years of hilarity that have been created by the quotes I will go for these…

“I’m a witness” – Little sister around age 4-5 to my parents when big brother and I were fighting over who did what. The actual event was soon forgotten, but the quote will remain the bane of my sister’s existence for years to come.

“He’s jogging now” – Again this was little sister, but at an older age. We were all just hanging out in the living room one day and this man walked down our street. Then it started to rain and when he came back from the opposite direction he was running. You probably had to be there.

“Look – it’s a guy full of jeeps” – my friend Annie one night in high school – driving around. For about the next year we said it backwards on purpose because it was just funny.

“Oh really,” “No O’Reilly” – This is the punch line to a joke** in the Laugh-a-Minute joke book my grandma bought my sister and I when we were little. I still tend to add the “No, O’Reilly” whenever my sister says “Oh really”

7. What language do you want to learn?

I guess Spanish would probably be the most useful, but I also wish I would’ve kept up with French. After taking 5 years of it from age 14-19, I know a dismal amount of it now.

8. What do you love most about where you currently live?

The weather, the trees and neighborhood feel even though it’s a big city. More specifically, that I’m close to work and only have a 15 minute commute.

9. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

I think I’d like to go to Japan, China and Thailand, but I’m also still working on all 50 states – only 8 more to go.

10. If you could do or be anything (career wise), what would you be?

This is a tough one because I really enjoy what I’m doing now, so I think I’ll stick with it.

11. What’s your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe?

That’s a tough one. I am really digging a pair of wedge sandals currently so I’ll go with them. I don’t know if shoes count, but whatever, this is my answer.

12. Describe your personal style?

Hair’s kinda, I dunno, brown? No, it’s not really brown. Oh, and tall. Yeah, kinda tall. Sorta tall. And like always wearing like t-shirts. So, sort of tall? Kind of. With… hair? Yeah. And wears t-shirts sometimes? Yeah. (not really to describe my personal style – I just wanted to throw in a “Can’t Hardly Wait” reference)

My real answer would go something like this conversation I had at work.

Coworker: Oh I like your outfit. Did you put it together yourself?
Me: If by “put together” you mean, liked what the mannequin was wearing and bought it, then yes, I put it together myself.

13. Do you collect anything?

Hat pins when I travel – they are all on my bulletin board at home since I don’t wear hats and think it would be kind of lame if I actually pinned anything to them if I did.

14. What makes you follow a blog?

If it’s funny and/or interesting.

15. What makes you comment on a blog?

I don’t know, I guess if I have something to say then I will comment.

16. What is the most enjoyable thing you did today?

It’s still pretty early and I’m at work, so the most enjoyable part of my day so far was probably taking a shower.

17. What’s your favorite thing to do when you have free time?

Read, play tennis, play board games, watch TV.

**Jane: Aunt Sheila, did you hear I’m enganged to an Irishman?
Aunt Sheila: Oh really?
Jane: No, O’Reilly.

I’m glad I can be a leader among followers.

    a 15-minute commute? That’d be lovely! I already had my 50-minute commute cut down 20-minutes. There’s a chance it’ll get cut another 10-minutes…woo hoo!
