Friday Fun & Games
November 6, 2009 at 2:36 pm (Funny Things) (Lists, Music)
Ok, so for no other reasons than I’m bored and I can’t think of anything else to write, I’m going to create a game, or a contest if you will.
Today I went to the gym over lunch but I was super tired and not really in the mood to run 2 miles, so I made a playlist of 9 songs to pump me up.
The first person that can guess 8 of the 9 songs with the correct artist by 12m Thu 11/12 will get $15* (I know it’s not a ton, but hopefully you guys will play anyways)
1. Each guess must include 9 songs with an artist listed.
2. All guesses must be commented, I will not accept emailed answers because then others can’t keep track of what’s been guessed.
3. I will give hints periodically and will reply to all guesses with how many you got correct.
Hints:
1. All songs are from 1992 to 2002
2. I would classify them all as Hip-Hop/Rap, but I-tunes would not.
3. Most of the playlist was probably a little inappropriate to be listening to at a church
4. At least four of the 9 songs include locations. One of these names a park and the city/neighborhood, one names an address, one names some coasts and a bunch of other places, and one says Hotlanta.
5. One song I have written about on my blog.
6. Only one song is by a woman/women.
7. One song was in a Diet Coke commercial.
8. One song is originally by Jesse Jaymes and was also covered by the Beastie Boys, but I have the version covered by someone else.
9. Two songs are from Soundtracks. One is from a 1995 movie I’ve never seen and I have the version from the soundtrack although it can also be found on an album by the artist. The other is from a 2001 Nicole Kidman movie, but it is not an original song and it is not on any of the artists albums.
10. One of the artists name starts with Lil’
11. Warren G is not the artist for any of the songs, but he is mentioned in one of them along with the DOG.
12. One song is reminiscent of a child’s clapping song.
13. I like jelly.
14. The song from 1992 is very likely the first rap song I ever heard.
15. The song from the 2001 movie is also the song that is by a woman.
16. Locations from hint 4 include: Kings Park, 111 morningside, Indiana (2), from St. Louis to Memphis.
One hint per song (and random ones at that):
17. I like summertime and birds. (1995)
18. I have two ears, one mouth, one nose and two eyes. (2002)
19. I wasn’t but some girls are.(1992 or 1993)
20. I speak french (2001)
21. Ditto? Wait, no that’s not right. (1993)
22. Band named for a street (2002)
23. I really get annoyed when people use bad grammar (2000)
24. I’ve never driven an Impala (1999)
25. I got Nothin’ (1992)
* If you are related to me: You must get all 9 songs right to win and if you do, then your payout will be in 10 years as is standard.
And go…

Clearly the problem here is your playlist since you are missing all of these AWESOME songs.

This is like a bad LSAT question.
Katie said,

No, but pretty close for two hours of research
You have four of the songs right, but only two of the artists are correct, I will give you this though, one of the artists you have wrong is very very close, but wrongly attributed

Sheesh. Okay, here goes…in no particular order
1. Summertime in the LBC – Dove Shack (I knew this before looking at your hints.)

3. College Girls are Easy – Easy E
4. Lady Marmelade – Lil’ Kim, Mya, Pink, Christina Aguilera

7 for 9, not too bad for a first guess
Maybe you should look at the hints because you have two songs by women…
Little Sister said,
November 12, 2009 at 2:22 pm
Oh shoot, I did look at the hints but forgot about that one and was having a hard time coming up with a 9th song. Boo hiss. No more guesses for me for awhile, that already ate up 45 minutes of my day.
