I’m still not entirely sure if I’m awake or if I’m still dreaming…
Last night I had one of the strangest dreams ever. That is saying a lot coming from me because I have some pretty weird dreams. I’m going to do my best to lay it out for you.
Ok, here’s the weirdest part of the dream – I was asleep the entire time (remember this), but in my dream, I was sleeping and having other dreams, so it was like a bunch of little dreams within a dream. It went like this. In my dream I was sleeping, but not very well. I kept waking up and each time I woke up in my dream I left one dream and then fell back asleep into another. In my dream it was like I was watching myself sleep and dream and wake up and roll over, sleep and dream, etc. etc. I only remember a few of the small dreams, but I feel like there were more.
1. In the first dream within a dream that I remember I was Sarah in “Labyrinth” trying to get to Jareth’s castle to save baby Toby, but it was funny because while I was being led around by Hoggle, the whole time I was singing – You remind me of the babe. What babe? The babe with the power. What power? The power of voodoo. Who do? You do? What? Remind me of the babe. (I love this movie, if you have not seen it, you must immediately go and watch it)
2. In another one I was on a swing set of sorts with a friend. I say “of sorts” because the swings weren’t really attached to anything and we were just swinging opposite directions facing each other in the air. He jumped off his swing and disappeared and then I did the same and that was the end of that one.
3. This one was great. Probably about 4 or 5 years ago I had a dream where Sum and I traveled to Germany or somewhere like that and spied on a school for male models. This was like a re-run of that dream, which was pretty funny in itself but the fact that this long after I had the original dream, I had a condensed version, is pretty hysterical.
4. The last one I remember is my favorite. I was with my brother and sister and we were running and then all of a sudden my sister started leap frogging over me and my brother, but we were still running and we were upright so my sister was a super leap frogger. She wasn’t just putting her hands on our shoulders and jumping over us like you might be imagining – she was actually crouching down and leaping from the ground over us and back to the crouched position without ever touching us. We stopped and decided that this deserved some attention so we spent the rest of the dream trying to get my sister some recognition for her amazing leap frog ability. We held a fair and I hate to say it, but we put her on display like a freak show. (sorry sis) It was awesome.
So anyways, this morning when my alarm went off and I hit snooze a few times, I was really confused, because a little part of me still thought this was part of the dream. It wasn’t, and I ended up oversleeping and being a little late to work. Unless of course it is still last night and I’m only dreaming that I’m at work…
Ladies of the Evening
That, my friends, is the name I heard a little old lady call her small group today when I was at the gym. She had to be around 80. I couldn’t help but chuckle a little, and then it got better…
She said when they started it about 10 years ago they had to fight with the minister to be able to call it that. I can’t even imagine the conversation that took place. I wish I was there.
Some days you really just can’t begin to imagine the things you’ll learn when you turn your iPod off.
Gibberish
* You know the embarrassment you feel when you only realize you’re singing out loud because people are staring at you. Wait, yeah, me neither.
* I hate blue headlights. Are they suppose to be safer or something. They annoy me.
* I can get pretty chatty when I drink wine. This is why working for the CIA would have never worked out – I would be too easy to break. So much for dreams of the young.
* It’s pretty amusing to watch someone tear open and empty five or six K-cups into a regular coffee maker because the fancy machine is broken.
* Sometimes I really hate having to come up with titles for my blog entries, but they look pretty stupid without one.
* Last night I watched Mad Men right before book club and then got in my car and “Syndicated” by Richard Julian came on my iPod. Both involve space in some way. One had a story line about an American company going all over the world, and even to the moon. The other is a good song that goes in the opposite direction.
My week in TV 10-12-09
I missed a lot while I was in Hawaii, so I’ve spent the last week catching up on everything – my DVR was at 98% – barely made it.
Best One-Liner: Community
“Oh my God, my life is Degrassi High” – Jeff
Best Thing I Watched: The Office 10/8/09
I’m a sucker for The Office and Weddings so it was a perfect fit for me. I loved every bit of it from the opening vomit sequence to the very end.
Worst Thing I Watched: The Office 10/1/09
This episode was pretty dumb. It seemed forced and I didn’t like it. I did enjoy Pam’s face at the end when she realized Ryan scammed her, but that was about it.
That’s it. Hopefully I’ll have a little more insight for you this week
FML and IMMD matching posts would be funny…
This made me laugh because I immediately wanted to check and see if there was a FML post that matched this one from IMMD. There wasn’t, but come on, there totally should be…
“I ordered a used memory card off ebay and when I put the card in a reader to format it and AutoRun shows me full set of homemade porno pics and videos of girl that owned this card. IMMD.” submitted by Moonwalker.
My Week in TV 9-25-09
Best One-Liners: Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother
“Haley had her first boy over today. Phil shot him.” – Claire (MF)
“No, they don’t realize that they weren’t lying.” – Lily (HIMYM)
Best Thing I Watched: Grey’s Anatomy
I was a little nervous how they would handle the death of George. We knew he died, we knew he wasn’t coming back so it got off to kind of a rocky start with Lexi claiming it wasn’t him, but overall I was very impressed with the two hour season premiere. I thought they handled the transition from last year to the lead in to this year very well. I also especially liked how they had each of the characters show how they were grieving. It was good also to see Meredith crying in the locker room at the end because her character hasn’t always been good at dealing with things and it seemed like a breakthrough to have her deal with this almost normally. I’m interested to see what they do with this whole Seattle Grace/Mercy West merger. I might have to do some online searching to see if there are people leaving the show.
Worst Thing I Watched: SNL Weekend Update Thursday
Wow, I just don’t think the whole SNL on Thursday idea works as well without a major election going on. I was pretty disappointed with it this week. I really don’t like the bits with the NY Governor – I feel like it’s old and overdone. Let’s stick to Saturday guys.
Worst Thing I Didn’t Watch: Beautiful Life
I saw the pilot a few months ago and declared that it was the worst thing I had ever watched on TV ever. I wasn’t exaggerating. Luckily most of America agrees. In week two of the new season, it becomes the first casualty of the 09/10 season. Well played CW, well played.
Most Interesting thing I got sucked in to: That’s Impossible “Weather Warfare” on The History Channel
Very fascinating facts and some conspiracy theories about the governments using technology to harness weather and use it as a weapon.
An Ironic Choice
Sometimes a song can make you happy. Sometimes this means you will play it on repeat a few (hundred) times before you move on. Sometimes it will make sense. Other times it won’t and you just can’t explain it.
Today that song is “Sad Eyes” by Josh Rouse. It’s not a particularly happy song, but it is beautiful…
