I usually get a pillow to the face, but it’s totally worth it

It’s time for another question

#46 – When did you last sing to yourself? to someone else?

This one is super easy. The last time I sang to myself was about 15 minutes ago in the car on my way back from lunch. It’s safe to assume that I am always singing to myself when I am alone in my car, and sometimes even when I’m not.

I suppose the last time I sang to myself without music playing was probably the last time I really had trouble falling to sleep. Sometimes I sing old camp songs to myself when I can’t sleep. This usually happens after I’ve tried counting my breaths or saying goodnight to each body part from my toes to my head, but before I’ve given up and gotten up to find a distraction.

The last time I sang to someone else, if you don’t count singing with other people, would probably be last time I woke up first in the same place as my sister. This is by far the easiest way to get her out of bed.

Queen is for Questions

I’m kind of slightly bad at the question round of Kings (aka Circle of Death). I always laugh or want to answer them.

I wanted to have a little fun and come up with some new ideas for the blog, so I decided to buy The Book of Questions by Gregory Stock, PH.D. and answer some of them. I think I’ll just do it randomly instead of trying to pick a day or commit to a certain time frame. Also, instead of going in order through the book, I’m just going to flip randomly and if I don’t like that one flip again, etc. etc.

Basically, I’m going to do it the same way I do everything around here.

To begin…

#35 – Would you give up half of what you now own for a pill that would permanently change you so that one hour of sleep each day would fully refresh you?

My immediate reaction was that basically I already have based on the falling housing prices in the current economy and that I should get the pill without having make any more changes. I have not really lost half the value in my home, but sometimes it feels like it.

But being serious about it, my answer is no. It sounds better at first to have the extra time, but after a week, I would probably have buyers remorse. There’s not a lot to do at 4am, so the novelty would probably wear off pretty quick.

Also, based on my current assets I would not want to give up half of that to gain this extra time. I like the security of owning my home and having a reliable car. I enjoy having savings that I can use to travel and purchase things I want. Basically I have just the right lifestyle to make this not worth it.

If I had less and owned next to nothing – sure, why not. I could ditch half of it, gain 6 hours, maybe work another job and eventually come out better in the end.

If I had more and owned a bunch of house and cars and jets, then sure, why not. Get rid of half and be able to enjoy the extra time. Of course, if I had this much, it would probably also mean I wouldn’t be working, so then I’d already have an extra 8 hours a day, so why bother. I guess the choice in this case would depend more on if you always only got 1 hour of sleep or if it was just an available option when you wanted. Options are nice, even when you’re loaded (I assume)

What about you – would you do it?
